Born in Hong Kong, Edmond Cheng received his bachelor's degree in music from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and was awarded "Winner of the HKAPA Concerto Trial" in 2003. With great deal of experience and contribution in double bass teaching and conducting in Hong Kong, Edmond became the permanent member of the International Society of Bassists in year 2009.
Edmond was previously the conductor of Yip's Children Orchestra in Hong Kong and recently conducting the string orchestra of Kowloon Tong Allicance Primary School and the orchestra of the Creative Primary School. He also teaches double bass at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Kowloon Tong Allicance School, Diocesan Girls School, La Salle Primary School.
He performed with the Asian Youth Orchestra in Korea, Japan, and Vienna and at the Olympic Arts Festival in Sydney, Australia during the 2000 Olympic Games. His solo performances include the HKAPA Concerto Winner's Concert and Hong Kong New Youth Philharmonia Orchestra Annual Concert, and his chamber music experience includes the Ditterstorf Symphonia Concertante with the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra.
